Most Successful People
Technology, development or life hacks everything is possible because of science. Scientists put their effort on research and development so that citizens can benefit. Medicinal research has helped the citizens to cure themselves from life-threatening diseases like cancer.
New inventions in the field of science and technology play great role in shaping the daily life of people. Scientific discoveries have enabled us to do away with the era of bullock cart and bring motorized vehicles in place.
Society advances with the progress in the field of science and technology. Indians are hardly aware of their great scientists. We hardly knew few famous scientists like Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, C.V. Raman, Homi Bhaba etc. There are many achievements and success stories of the Indian scientists that aren’t known to many. Notable scientists and researchers have constantly made our nation proud.
1. Mylswamy Annadurai is working with the Indian Space Research Organization and currently serves as Director of ISRO Satellite Centre (ISAC), Bangalore. Earlier, he worked as Programme Director for IRS & SSS (Indian Remote Sensing & Small, Science and Student Satellites), which include Chandrayaan-1, Chandrayaan-2, ASTROSAT, Aditya-1, Mars Orbiter Mission and many Indian Remote Sensing missions. His works have been mentioned in 10th standard Science Text Book of Tamil Nadu. Annadurai has been listed among 100 Global thinkers of 2014 and tops the innovators list. Dr. Annadurai has received more than fifty awards that include, Padma Shri in 2016, ISRO Merit Award in 2009, Laurels for Team Achievement Chandrayaan-1, International Academy of Astronautics in 2013.

2. Udupi Ramachandra Rao, popularly known as U. R. Rao is a space scientist and former chairman of the ISRO. He is the present Chairman of the Governing Council of the Physical Research Laboratory at Ahmedabad and chancellor of Indian Institute for Space Science and Technology (IIST) at Thiruvananthapuram. Rao was awarded the Padma Bhushan by in 1976. He was the first Indian to be inducted into the Satellite Hall of Fame, Washington on March 19, 2013 at a ceremony organised by the Society of Satellite Professionals International. He is the recipient of Zaheer Hussain Memorial Award in 1995, Aryabhatta Award in 1995, Group Achievement Award by NASA in 1975, Medal of Honour by Academy of Sciences, USSR in 1991 .

3. Raghavendra Gadagkar is a professor at the Centre for Ecological Sciences, Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, who studies evolution of social behaviour using eusocial insect Ropalidia marginata, a locally common wasp as a model. He is currently the President on the Indian National Science Academy. Gadagkar has published over 275 scientific papers and articles in various international journals as well as in Indian journals like Current Science magazine, and the Journal of Biosciences. His most important contribution to the field of evolution of eusociality is the theory of “assured fitness returns”, which has been verified from empirical data and can be considered as a significant landmark in this field since the seminal work done by W. D. Hamilton in 1964. His first book, Survival Strategies, has been translated into Chinese and Korean. It uses simple language to explain recent advances in behavioural ecology and sociobiology to a general audience. He has also written a more technical book, The Social Biology of Ropalidia marginata: Towards understanding the evolution of eusociality, which puts together over twenty years of his research about the evolution of eusociality. In 2006 Gadagkar became one of the very few Indian scientists to be elected as a Foreign Associate of the National Academy of Sciences, USA. He has won numerous awards for his contributions to science research including Cross of the Order of Merit (Germany) in 2015 and the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award in Biology in 1993. He was elected as a member of the German National Academy of Sciences, Leopoldina in July 2012.
